if using my uk debit card out here in the states will i be charged anything???

if so do you know the charges?? the card will only be used to purchase not to withdraw money

Some banks charge an currency conversion fee .
Check with your bank as , over here , it ranges from 1% to about 3% depending on the bank .

Kate is correct.

Here are some tips on how to use the card here.
Tell your bank when you will be using the card in the U.S. so it will have a less chance of being blocked (Only a few banks in the UK block transaction outside of the country)

Ask you bank if they block pin purchase in the U.S. You would have the Visa plus or Visa interlink logo on the card. Some banks can activate this feature.

Interlink & Plus are linked to one another. So it could possible be used at merchants that just take those cards. These places only take pin purchases.

Some merchants offer you a choice.

Debit/ATM you enter a pin (You can get cash back at some merchants when using this method)

Credit You sign for your purchase

Both methods come out of your checking account.

Definitely do not allow merchant to do dynamic currency conversion.
