I think we have a super strain of fleas...I bombed, put flea powder down, fleas collars for both cat and dog...used frontline and hartz...yeah all at different times I know the effects of using all that at once...but I have tried everything, somebody tell me if they are having or had(preferrably) the same problem and what to do!

No, you've got normal fleas - normal fleas don't respond to collars, bombs, powders or Hartz. These are all useless things - except for Hartz, which is useless AND dangerous, don't use it at all: www.hartzvictims.org.

Stick to just Frontline - preferably Frontline Plus, it's got the added ingredient that kills flea eggs too. Make sure you're getting it on your animal's SKIN, not fur, very important.

It's also important that you get hold of a decent housespray because so far you've only used things that are unlikely to work. See what you can get in a vets - Indorex, Acclaim and Staykil are all good ones, don't know if you can get them in USA (if that's where you are) but treatments from a vet should all be good. See if you can get hold of Skoosh - the newest treatment, and the only one that kills eggs and pupae as well as adult fleas. It's also pesticide free which is great.

I think people are going to suggest the usual things: Borax, Dawn dish soap, garlic, neem oil. Don't bother - if all the things you've tried so far haven't worked, these non-specific treatment certainly won't.

Get the flea collars OFF the animals by the way, they're not doing anything except potentially causing harm - just search 'flea collars' on here to read some people's bad experiences. They don't work.

First, get one of the yard fertilizer sprayers, and put bleach-water in it. Spray your yard, keeping cats, dogs, and kids inside until it dries. That will kill the fleas outside. Second, bathe your pets in baby shampoo, the tear-less kind. Sounds strange, I know, but it works without being harsh on their skin and makes them smell good.

Also, instead of Frontline or Hartz, try Advantage. Whatever you do, DON'T use Zodiac. It can kill your pets.

For inside the house, vaccumm with a very powerful vaccumm cleaner, then steam clean. What you've got is eggs in the carpet. The powders and bombs only kill the adult fleas or those that have just hatched, not the eggs.

That should work. If not, I'd call a pest control service. Good luck, and I hope that helps.

Well, this will sort of be complicated but it works. First, you have two spare rooms right? Put old blankets on both of the spare rooms. Then put the cats in one spare room and you go to the local pet store and you buy flea shampoo. When you come back, clean the dogs with flea shampoo and then after you are done, you put the dogs in a clean room or the living room. Then do the same with the cats. If that doesn't work shave the dogs and cats.

~good luck!~

I had a major problem with fleas. And when I say major, I mean MAJOR!!!!! Salt helps. If u get salt and sprinkle it on ur floors it helps out. Also There is a powder laundry detergent called Borax that works as well. I was like u and had used Carpet powder, Bombed my house, put Frontline flea stuff on my cat and nothing happened. It actyually seemed to make them multiply. A good quick fix for getting them to stay off of ur legs is lysol. Spray ur pants (about thigh high and down) with lysol and they generally stay off of u. GOOD LUCK!!!! I KNOW IT IS A PAIN....

that happened to me it sucked.... you have to wait two weeks . the stuff you used takes up to six weeks till it really works good then in two weeks do it again. (the bombs)... then wait a month and bomb again to kill what ever hatched it takes awhile to hatch a flea egg. also read the back of the boxes you used and call the 1-800 comments or questions line. they are really helpful. they can send you some reading literature. about fleas

cut up one of the flea collars into shorter lenghths, and put it into your vacuum cleaner bag, to make sure the fleas you vacuum up die, otherwise they can escape.
try using a flea shampoo on the animals, it will make them more comfortable. You can also add brewer's yeast to their food, it makes the fleas not like them. Good luck!
