Is it true that river snakes can't bite you if you are in the water? A friend told me that will only bite if - for example - they got into your boat.

A rattlesnake might not bite when he is in the water, but a cottonmouth is a water snake and will bite you just as fast in the water as on land.

In the UK the only river snake is the common grass snake and I should'nt think they bite you unless you were small as a frog.
