Just wondering if there were any good WWII fiction books out (preferrably about Germans or russians, but in english) and also maybe something a younger person would enjoy.

Even though it's non-fiction, "The Tigers are Burning" (Martin Caidin, Pinnacle Books, 1974) is a great read, and exciting enough for any adolescent.

It's the story of the 1943 Battle of Kursk, with accounts by some of the participants on both sides. Think "Longest Day" but on the Russian front.

Caidin is best known for his novel "Cyborg," which was adapted for TV as "The Six Million Dollar Man."

Alistair MacLean's "Guns of Navarone" and "Force 10 from Navarone as well as "Where Eagles Dare," mostly involve the Brits but are also pretty exciting. All 3 were made in to major motion pictures.

The Winds of War and War and Remembrance by Herman Wouk. These two are excellent. It follows a military family from the late 30s though the end of the war. It covers the Pacific, Europe, the concentration camps, Russia and the leaders of the allies. Start with Winds of War.

Number the Stars by Lois Lowry
Waiting For Anya by Michael Morpurgo

They're both YA. You didn't specify what age that "younger person" was, but I'd say they're good for any age group.
