It says that the depo shot is effective in 24 hours, as long as you had it when suggested 5 days after the first day of your period? At around that time your not normally ovulating anyway so you shouldn't get pregnant. I had a good experience with depo, I liked that I didn't get a period, saved a few bucks not buying tampons and pads and it's cheaper then the pill, and it stops the ups and downs of pms. They are saying it's bad for your bones so I would suggest you take a good calcium suppliment. The bad thing is they can't help you if you have a bad reaction, and if you were to get pregnant before it started to work you would most likely miscarry because it changes the lining of your uterus.

You should be fine.

But I would rethink the depo shot.

http://www.rateitall.com/t-330-birth-control-methods.aspx and google "depo provera lawsuit". TOO many women have horrible affects on the shot.

If you are worried you are pregnant take a pregnancy test or talk to your doctor asap.

Also, NO contraceptive (including depo) is 100% effective. ANYtime you have sex you risk the chance of pregnancy.

Sperm dies the second it touches air- dont worry! your smart for using a condom. Depo starts working the second week so you can get pregnant! But keep on using those condoms!

I agree with the second answer. PLEASE research the depo shot. I took it for a few years and now have PCOS and endometriosis. There is a KNOWN link to PCOS and the depo shot. I honestly believe this drug should be taken off the market.
