That sounds like he is "maintance" feeding. What type of python is this. And the answer to your question is no he is not feeding this snake enough. A python that size should be eating a "medium" rat every 1 or 2 weeks.

That's a little on the conservative side. If he's feeding a small mouse, once a week would be better. A large mouse or small rat, every two weeks. Pythons have much slower metabolisms than other species and do not need to be fed as often. The diet your teacher has his snake on is barely a maintenance diet though. I hope he's at least feeding pre-killed, stunned or frozen/thawed prey and not live.....I wouldn't normally go to monthly feedings until the animal is eating either large rats or something bigger. You haven't said what kind of python it is.

No. A snake that size should have small rats and be fed at least every 10 days. Your teacher needs to do his homework! What kind of python?

No! I don't know how old the snake is, but a 4 ft. long snake should be eating a small to medium-sized rat AT LEAST once every two weeks. What's he insane? If he can't get small rats, then at LEAST 5 or 6 decent sized mice.

I feed mine 2 or 3 baby rats a week, but he is growing too.
Your teacher knows his pet, and the python will let him know when he is hungry.
I don't want Spencer to be aggressive so I keep him fed, but when he needs more food, goes hunting.
