Yes. I have been captain for many a games, sports, and just an overall leader. Be confident with your words, set a direction, and people will usually follow. People never want to make decisions on their own, even to the point to where they don't know what to do on their day off. so they ask their friends. A leader would usually come up with an idea, stick to it, and see it through.
