Sounds like a name that would end up on Jerry Springer.

If you really want my opinion then Jaya sounds very Indian Like. I don't know. I know a Jay and a JayJay like you and I know a Maya and a Mia but know Jaya. Sorry.

*Dont say this to the person you know but Jaya is like Jay's a y a. Spell it and it sunds weird.*

Not much. If your friend happens to be Hindu, it makes perfect sense for her. But if this were a question regarding a name for a baby NOW, I'd caution against it. It just manages to blend in with dozens of similar trendy names currently popular -- Jayden, Jaylen, Jayla, Jayda, Jayde, Jayson, Jayce, Jaycee, Jaylee, Jaymie, etc. (using Jay- misspellings to emphasize the link). And those are just the feminine and crossover examples! There's also Jacob, Jake, James ... you get the idea. ;)

So assuming she's an adult (or close enough), fine for her. But not one I'd likely use for an infant, in light of today's trends.

It isn't the worst name I've ever heard, but it strikes me as a little flimsy. I'd get my eyebrows waxed by Jaya, but I'm not sure I'd pay her to do my taxes.

I think all the vowel sounds next to each other make it sound funny. Maybe if you broke it up by putting in a consonent, like Jayda ot Jayna.

I don't care for it...as easy as it is, it's going to be mispronounced ALOT!!! Do you really want your daughter to have to go through life correcting people every time they say her name. It will get to be a point of frustration for her. I really like Giana or even Giada far better.

It's a nice name and it means "victory" in Hindustani. What's not to like? =)
