Ah no. Nothing to do with worshipping the devil.
The actual concept of Halloween is derived from an early Celtic holiday called Samhein (pronounced sow-in) that took place at the beginning of the winter season on Oct. 31. This day marked the end of summer and the end of food abundance and plant vitality for farmers.
Spirits of the dead were believed to roam freely. On the day known as "The Day of the Dead," living relatives would help their dead loved ones complete a safe journey to the afterlife.
People would paint or carve scary faces on gourds and turnips and disguise themselves in outlandish costumes to scare away the evil spirits that were also thought to be wandering the earth that night.
The Catholic Church, angered by these pagan practices, sought to eliminate them. Pope Gregory decided to declare a new festival of religious observance called All Saint's Day, a day in which every saint would be honored.
No devil worship there!

no. Its origins are pagan but it is not for most people a celebration of the devil. It is just another excuse to have fun and get candy. Other people throw partirs and other people make a hell of a killing in the merchandise they sell. No different than st valentines day or christmas. I mean during christmas all kids wait for santa clause to bring them presents not Jesus.

Before anybody jumps in and tell you that something is evil or isn't perhaps you should ask them to explain what evil is. Then base of that definition see if the mentioned activity does classify as evil. If you think about it there is nothing aveil about halloween. It is a cultural thing. The mexicans celebrate the day of the dead. The japanese do not celebrate halloween because they think it teaches kids to be beggars. Anywasy, would you classify a person evil because they rape a baby and then cook them and eat them. YES, most people would. But is dressing up in a costume and sharing with your kids and friends in the same category as the baby rape guy? Of course not. So, when you start classifying evil or lack of then you start seeing that there are many thing that are trully evil and a lot of them that aren't. Another thing is to see if this belief are based on opinion or fatcs.

Then you come to the point of symbolism. What does something means to you. For example, if you pick up a rock and it is a very pretty rock. What sysmbolism that has to you. Well, to most people a pretty rock is just that a rock. To others it is the symbol of mother earth and fertility. It is all from a persons point of view. Who is more right and who is more wrong is just an opinion.Definetly not worth going on a witsh hunt over it.

Forgot to mention. Yes, halloween is a pagan practice but, being pagan is a matter of opinion. It depends on which side you stand on. To the christians then such practices where pagan but to the people who practices it was just part of their religion and culture. Much the same as some muslims (not all of course) believe that any other religion other than their onw is wrong. That is christians are pagan and have weird practices when looked through the eyes of someone else. So, we can say that halloween can be considered a religious celebration for those who where in that religion.

No No No...Halloween, as it is celebrated now, has nothing to do with devil worship or pagan cults. It is about as far removed from its pagan roots as it could possibly get & it is a blend (in America) of the many different cultures who emigrated to America. Scottish, Irish, German . . . look it up & read all about it - the more you know the better informed you are.
