I think it is really, really putting a lot of pressure on your kid. Maybe she'll be a born entertainer with a big personality and a healthy ego - then, yes, a Starr is born.

But what if she's more the sensitive flower type? Or serious? Or goes through a really awkward period?

The name has such high expectations attached, I think it would be a mistake to use it. Starr as a middle name is quirky, but not punishing. Starr/Starlet just isn't very versatile as a formal given name.

no offense but i don't think starlet is a great name. It makes the baby sound stuck up...just by name! I do like Maria Sutton though

Might I suggest Scarlet? Starr and Starlet are passing fads, I'm sorry. Could you imagine the name on a fourty year old woman??

I'd have nothing against a name that actually means "star" -- Dara, Estelle/Stella, Seren, Astra or Citlali, for example -- but the actual word, especially misspelled (why add the extra R?), doesn't appeal to me at all. Starlet even less so, since that no longer refers to the same sort of "heavenly body," but now implies "a young movie actress being coached and publicized for starring roles." Immediately bringing to mind a pouty, pretentious little snot Mommy has been trying to force into the limelight since she could crawl.

I'm not trying to be overly negative. I just really don't care for those as names at all. I'd keep looking.

I like Starlet Maria Sutton. At first when you said star it would be strange, but Starlet is a beautiful name.

Personally, I like the name Starlet better than Starr, because my sister was bullied by a girl named Starr 2 years ago, and so I assossiate it with that.

I think it's a very pretty name though!

Consider Marianela (it means beloved star) and drop Starr and Maria.

I really like the name Kalliyan (Kalli for short, it means best) Marianela.
