Hi,
I live by my principles, my conscious would not allow me to do anything that went against what I believed in. That is how I actualise my philosophy.

You have to walk the talk, i.e. live up to your stated beliefs and principles, whether these are religious, ethical or philosophical. This is in no way an easy thing. For instance, let's say you're opposed to torture. There are many good reasons to be opposed to torture, not the least of which is that tortured people will confess to anything in order to get the torture to stop. But let's say that people have kidnapped your daughter. You've caught someone you believe is directly involved (in fact you know it), but he refuses to talk . Would you torture him to get the info necessary to save your daughter? Keep in mind that this is by no means an impossible, hypothetical situation. In some parts of the world, like Mexico, kidnappings happen by the thousands every year. In fact the Denzel Washington movie "Man on Fire" was about exactly this problem.
I am a Unitarian Universalist. According to one of my core beliefs, all people deserve to be treated with respect because all people are equal. A pedophile moved into my neighborhood (this really happened). I can't tell you how much I despise pedophiles. However, I did not form a vigilante committee to burn down his dwelling or to murder him some night: I don't believe in taking the law into one's own hands without the approval of the authorities, and I had no such approval. Nor is it legal to wage private warfare. My respect for the law and human rights overrules my personal desire to see pedophiles croak.

I watch my own back b/c, other than God, no one else will. Yet isn't God enough?
