you'll lose it when Labor is about to start, if you go to the restroom, and wipe yourself, it'll look kinda thick and slimy, and may have a little blood in it.

Alot of people don't lose their mucus plug until they go into labor so don't wait around looking for it. It usually happens when you reach a certain point of dialation which for some isn't until the actual birth adn for others they slowly dialate over weeks so they experience it sooner. For those who do lose it before labor, you will not be able to miss it. It's a never ending snot fest coming out down there. All the wiping and washing won't make it stop and you'll want to wear a pad or something because it's so gross and will soak through your panties so fast. You can have sex after it's started to come out(that's the best way to actually induce labor naturally!) but if your partner is prone to jock itch or has a history of viral STD's or something you might want to skip it, because you are more vulnerable to infection after it comes out.

You might not lose it until you deliver, especially with the first pregnancy.

Generally you lose it withing 24 hours of labour starting, but it can be a couple of days.

Don't know about the sex, but it's probably OK if you're feeling up to it.

hi I'm 33 weeks pregnant and i have started to loose mine from time to time i spoke to my midwife and apparently its normal to loose it in the last 8 weeks or so. the plug is a wall to stop infections from getting to the baby i think.
