The His Dark Materials series by Philip Pullman.
They are amazing. Honestly. I read them when I was in eighth grade, and fell in love. The Golden Compass, which is the first one (or Northern Lights in the UK) is being made into a movie. It comes out December 7th. Yeah, I'm a bit of a diehard fan.
Anyway, they are quite long (good length.) The first and the third are amazing, and the second one is fantastic too. They're fantasy type books, set in a parallel universe. The first few pages are a bit hard to get into, and I had to put it down and then get back to it as Pullman has quite a descriptive, but it is AMAZING. It has everything--fantasy, adventure, mystery (some), romance (from the second book onwards...and a bit at the end of the first.)
I'm not such a huge fantasy fan, but even I liked these books. I read them two years ago and ever since then I'm OBSESSED.
If you are a seriously devout Christian, the third might offend you. I'm a Christian and they didn't offend me, personally, but you never know...
Oh, and Neverwhere, by Neil Gaiman is also amazing, if you like the British sense of humour. It's a great story, as is Anansi Boys, by the same author.
And finally...try A Great and Terrible Beauty, by Libba Bray. It has the same fanbase as Twilight (I prefer AGATB though, having read both.) It's set in Victorian times, and it's a mystery, thriller type of book. It has some romance too. The final part of the trilogy comes out December 26th.
Anyway, hope I helped :D

Me too! I had a hard time deciding what to read after that fantastic series! At one point I was reading 3 books at once. I just finished Fudge Cupcake Murder by Joanne Fluke - she puts recipes in her books, I'm planning on trying out a couple before I give my copy to my sister. Maybe she'll bake something too and we can trade.
Right now I'm reading Bed Bugs (a Haskell Blevins Mystery) by Taylor McCafferty and Valhalla Rising by Clive Cussler (I'm always reading one of his books, I've got 2 more waiting for when I'm done with the current one) and I also like Anne Rice (consider reading her Mayfair Witches series). Also, Jim Chee Mysteries by Tony Hillerman (got one of those waiting too).

The Artemis Fowl Series are easy, but really good and extremely hilarious. Try books like the Wizards Series by Diane Duane, Number the Stars, The Giver by Lois Lowry, a Wrinkle in Time, books by Anthony Horowitz such as the Alex Rider, Diamond Brothers, and Gatekeepers series, Things Unseen by Andrew Clements, Jurassic Park and Timeline by Michael Crichton, Hatchet, Brians Winter, The River, etc, There's a Hair in my Toothbrush and Crash by Jerry Spinelli, Flipped, books by Wendelin Van Draanen like Run Away and Swear to Howdy, and books by Cornelia Funke. The Thief Lord's the best. Oh, and Eragon and Eldest. That's probably obvious, but so is Lord of the Rings. Remembered one. The Children of the Lamp books are pretty good.

The Twilight Series is very popular with young adults. I haven't personally read it...I'm still stuck in The Memory Keeper's Daughter, but when I finish that I am reading Twilight. It is also on the "What To Read After Harry Potter" list, so I think it fits. Hope I helped!

I have answered this question so many times, I decided to dedicate a web site to answer this question. Here it is:
http://www.life-after-harry-potter.com
Included is a list of only the best sorcery fantasy books, grade reading level, a short review of each book along with a brief summary of adult content. There is also a "Reader's Choice" list of favorite books, and a list of heroine sorcery fantasy books.
I hope this helps.

I discovered The Lord of the Rings trilogy when I was in 8th grade. It was an amazing read. Even though you've probably seen the movies, the books are even better. It was the most intense reading experience I ever had. J.R.R.Tolkein creates a whole world of characters and experiences that are truly out of this world, but so real!!!
These books will challenge your mind and enrich your imagination. You sound like the kind of reader who is up for books that will stretch the boundaries of your experience. Plus the battles and swordplay are awesome!!!

Hey here's a great list!
The Uglies Trilogy--> it is about a girl who is 16 and is in future. Everybody gets to be supermodel gorgeous with an operation but her friend doesn't want the operation.. Find out what happens! The 4rth book Extras just came out and I already finished it.. It was amazing. THIS BOOK YOU ABSOLOUTELY CAN'T PUT DOWN1
The Twilight Series--> WOW! You have to read these! They are amazing. They are about a girl who falls in love with an amazing vampire named Edward and what happens. It is a book you can't put down! IT ROCKS!!
A Great and Terrible Beauty--> This book is about a girl named Gemma who goes to a boarding school after her mother gets murdered and she finds out all these different secrets.. Sorry I am kind of spacing about all of what it's about but it is really good.. It is totally elegant. I loved it.
Inkheart/ Inkspell--> A Girl's dad can read out characters in books. This book is very good but the 2nd book is wayy better in my opinion.
The Bartimeous Trilogy--> This boy is only 11 but he goes past his yearsand summons a demon that he most likely can't control. This book is very good!!!
Eragon/ Eldest--> THIS BOOK IS AMAZING!! It sounds kinda cheesy but it is awesome. It is about a guy who finds a dragon and what happens. I think the 2nd is better than the first but I totally couldn't decide.. lol!!
Pride and Prejudice--> I haven't read this yet but it is supposed to be amazing!!
Redwall--> This book is awesome it is about a mouse and how an evil rat comes and he has to be a hero.. There are a lot of books in the series.
The River Between Us--> I read this book a long time ago but it was very good. It takes place during the Civil War and is about a girl.. It is very interesting.
The Book Thief--> This book is supposed to be awesome.. I own it but I haven't read it yet.
Vampire Academy--> I just bought this book it looks really good.
The Outsiders--> lots of people love this book i haven't read it.
Thw Mistmantle Chronicles--> very good they are about a swirrel that is different and stuff. it is very good..
The Allison Rules--> This book is amazing. It is about a friendship and rules and dramaand everything. it rocks!!!!
