Some dealers will let you negotiate on many models. Some models sell well enough that the dealer won't give you any price breaks, while others sit in the showroom for a month and the dealer wants to get rid of it. It never hurts to try. Look for a dealer who has a few of the particular model in stock.

Another tip is to look for a brand new model from a previous model year. I recently found a brand new 2005 motorcycle that was selling for 2K less than the almost identical 2007 model.

If you came to me with that kind of offer you would be getting a 2 word answer, one of those words would be off. You are trying to get nearly a quarter of the price knocked off. The used car trade is very strong at the moment so I'd of thought it unlikely. Garages may charge more for their cars but they are spending money on preparing them for sale, advertising, rates, insurance, business costs and tax.

Negotiations are (almost)always possible.
Having said that, they are not required by law, and the dealer sets his own policy

Generally, they are set for Yamaha, but you can get an 07 or 06 leftover for cheaper. Which bike you looking at? Another thing you can do is look up the MSRP, that will tell you if they are overpricing.
