What Anti-virus do you have installed? Spybot and Ad Aware are good, if you learn how to use them properly.

You should also use Windows Defender and Spyware Blaster.

Google for them.

I assume you also have a good firewall, like Zone Alarm, not the built-in Windows one.

I think there's no need for 2 anti-spyware programs.
Spybot does both spyware and adware.

I think I would also want to know what vendor's software you were using for Antivirus. I usually recommend antivirus / firewall combo from a reliable vendor like mcafee. It's really important that they are properly configured.. like to scan for PuPs and automatically downloading updates.

Also make sure windows updates are automatically updating.

Good Luck.

Yeah. They work great. It's good to have an anti virus program, along with two spyware protection type programs.

My mom's computer guy, that is an IT, install AVG free, spybot and adware se onto her computer. These are also recommend programs to download on a computer tech site I help out at.

Windows Firewall is one-way protection. It blocks incoming stuff, but not outgoing stuff. I once had a downloaded program try to use my email from within my PC. Nothing blocked it. My Internet browser opened & everything. Lucky it couldn't press "send email". (This is outgoing stuff.)

Thats great, but a firewall would give extra protection.
Make sure you update and run your anti-virus every day.
Your ad ware and your spy ware every other day.

that's plenty. you don't want to put too much on your computer because it'll bog your computer down by using unecessary memory and computer speed.
