16 is never to late, you have two choices learning from a teacher or learning yourself both have there pluses and there draw backs, i taught myself and it probably helped me get my own style.

buy a guitar get a chord book, learn the chords and take it from there once you have a few chords, then start learning what notes fit best within youre chord changes and then youll be jamming

You should go to the closest public library because there are many good books available on this subject. The librarian will be happy to help you find what you need. I happen to like "The KISS Guide to the Guitar".

Check out a guitar center and ask, ask, ask questions there!

your question needs clarification.....too late?....doesn't matter what age you start....all you need is deep desire...

Take lessons, and then, after the basics, you can pick it up on your own.....

This is what i did, and i have been playing for over 30 years.
