Where does this leave the accusations against the Portuguese Police that they were "FRAMING" the McCanns in order to "PROTECT TOURIST IN THE ALGARVE" - Today's revelation in the British press: " Kate’s race to escape prison - KATE McCann fled Portugal after police tried to throw her in jail for abandoning Maddeleine, it was revealed last night "
http://www.dailyexpress.co.uk/posts/view/21221
"Scotland Yard detectives supported Portuguese police moves to name her parents as suspects"
"The Brit officers were consulted about naming the McCanns, both 39, as suspects and agreed it was the right way forward "
(Scotland Yard said:) "There is no way any officer would make that decision unless they believed it was wholly necessary as a crucial part of the investigation."

" anne s " -- what beautiful remark. I will let you into a secret... I am part English and part Portuguese and I will defend these two countries if either of them is accused unfairly. I feel that Portugal and its Police have been treated pretty stupidly in the McCann saga. I have just returned from Portugal and you are so right in what you said. Thank you "anna s"

I find it absolutely amazingly how interesting ALL your answers are. Thank you so much. What a lesson to the media it is that your answers and opinions reign so supreme in spite of the porcupine-style journalism we have had on the McCann case. In spite of so much rubbish in the papers, the British public has not been fooled for a bit. Congratulations to you all.

I don't think for one minute they're being framed. If they wanted to frame someone, they had the fallguy Murat as arguido and the whole thing could have been over within weeks.
The Portuguese tourist industry won't suffer as a result of this. This whole case is the fault of two parents who didn't look after their children, not the fault of the country it happened in.
I bet Praia da Luz has had its best season this summer, with tourists hotfooting it there to see it for real.

No I don't think they were trying to frame the McCanns chief insp. Goncalo Amaral ordered prosecutors to throw the book at the GP. when she refused to answer questions about Forensic evidence so he demanded Jose Menzes charge her with "exposition and abandonment" and I think they will still use this if they cant charge the McCanns with any thing else.

I don't think they are being 'framed' at all, the McCanns have brought enough suspicion on themselves by their lack of cooperation and unnatural behaviour...The fact that she refused to answer certain questions is very suspicious, if she is innocent, then what has she to hide?
It just seems that this whole case has turned into a defence campaign, the McCanns refuse to answer vital questions, yet claim they have nothing to hide? Very strange... This is after all their child the police want to know about, yet, still, they carry on defending themselves....???

there will be much less try cricket after the sucess of the IPL!! and it incredibly is going to be on the verge of crumple of impossible for the different bowler to beat Murali's checklist sooner or later - yet however no person theory that Kapil Dev's checklist of 500 wickets all those years in the past would've been broken!! U in basic terms in no way understand!!

It is such a shame that this has turned into a war of words whereas it should be about the fate of missing children and what our 'civilised' countries can do about it.
It has become a complete shambles, the powers that be have obviously been pulling rank and influence over their counterparts in Portugal, dear Lord will this turn into WW3 because a couple of tourists refused to make adequate provision for minding their children irrespective of how far away they were 'dining'.
Lets hope the truth will out and those responsible held accountable for their actions.

Yeah, but we must remember she cries everyday so obviously she didn't do it......
Apparently the British police 'body language' experts were also quite quick to question their behavior as well (can't remember link but didn't make it up as obviously that would just be silly)
Sadly I think that this might be one case that just runs and runs - don't imagine any startling new evidence is going to come to light 5 months down the line, but we can live in hope.
Do you ever think they'll question the other Tapas gang? Seems strange they haven't :(

I've never believed the PJ were framing the McCanns, why on earth would they. If they wanted to frame anyone, they'd have framed Murat.
It's more like the McCanns are discrediting the PJ and preventing them from doing their investigation.

I'm not sure that the British police should get involved if the Portuguese police really think the mcCanns are suspects then they should of kept them there.
