I am 37 weeks and 5 days pregnant. This is my SECOND pregnancy.

I have been having mild period pain all day, and about an hour ago the front of my tummy (around my navel) has gone really quite hard. At first I thought it was a braxton-hicks contraction, but it hasnt really softened. There is quite a bit of pressure there, but no pain yet

I havent had a show and my waters havent broken, but then that never happened with my first pregnancy either!

I WILL phone my midwife if i get really concerned, but I just wanted to see if this rings any bells with anyone first!

CHeers!

the period pains are constant background pain, not really painful, not intermittent.

I would say that it is possible for you to be starting early labor, but for some people, this happens for days or weeks. Just wait for regular contractions, or for your water to break. And you're right to call your midwife with any concerns. She should be able to give you more accurate answers than anyone on this site. Good luck with everything!! A good rule of thumb is that if you have to ask if it's labor yet, it probably isn't. But, that doesn't mean it's not coming soon!!

You need to time these pains and see if you have more than five an hour for a two hour period and they should also be at regualr intervals apart. If this is happening, then definitely go to the hospital.
