I was in walmart the other day purchasing *Gain* and noticed Walmart now even has their own brand (good value) laundry soap. I think it was called Everyday Elegance(?) A friend of mine was with me also getting laundry soap and she picked up this large liquid bottle called Xtra. I noticed BOTH of these are way cheaper then what I pay for Gain and am wondering if any of you have used them, and if so what is your opinion of them? Ive been using Gain and All for as far back as I can remember and if I can save a few bucks in the laundry department as with most people Im all for it.

Thank you

Ty all for your answers and opinions. However in regards to TIDE (name brand) we can not use that in our home because my husband breaks out in red dots from it. I grew up w my mom using gain so I just kinda used it to. I will try simple pleasures was back in walmart again yesterday noticed on the back of the bottle it said "64 loads when filled to line 2 on cap" which means if filled to the top for bigger loads (line 5, and YES I TOOK THE CAP OFF) it will do under 32 loads. Is that really a bargin?

Like most who have posted, I haven't tried Everyday Elegance yet. I actually don't think that it is in our stores here at the moment. I have tried many different types of detergents, however. Xtra is not good at all ... I wouldn't recommend it. I have used Gain but it is very pricey. Gain is my favorite of the name brand detergents so if you go name brand, I suggest that you use it. If you want to go cheaper, I suggest Purex. My husband and I use Purex a lot. It is thick, not watery like Xtra, and it comes in many different fragrances AND is a lot cheaper than the name brand detergents. Also, it now comes in different concentrations like the name brand detergents. There is a 2x concentrated version now and it works great. There is also a fragrance and dye free version which I like to use. Anyway, it's always worth it to try the cheaper detergents. They serve the same purpose and, in lots of cases, they actually work better than the name brand stuff. I will definitely be giving Everyday Elegance a try when it comes out.

Personally, I don't care for Gain. I read a Consumer Reports article about laundry detergents and Gain and Xtra were low on the ratings. I prefer Tide. I have tried other detergents, but nothing beats Tide. Even CR ratings put Tide as #1. If you watch the ads you can get Tide at a very good price.

The Everyday Elegance is Wal-mart's version of Tide's Simple Pleasures. I have not tried the detergent (they do not have it in HE yet ) but I will buy it as soon as it is available. I haved tried the Everyday Elegance liquid fabric softener and dryer sheets and both worked as well as Downy without paying the premimum price. Xtra doesn't work well at all and I ended up spending more with it cause you use more and you need a stain remover with it as well.

This is the difference

the concentration.

So, you don't have to use as much GAIN or TIDE in your laundry, but Xtra is VERY VERY watery, so you have to use a whole cup full. You really think you're saving money, but you're just buying a watered down version of the more expensive stuff and you go through it faster.

I really like All - but I have noticed that the Tide Total Care does seem to do a bit better on my laundry - it seems to go easier on my clothes while still cleaning them thoroughly. I do use All though as wel - Aditionally I also use some color safe bleach (clorox 2) to help get those extra tough stains and dirt out for a bit more of a clean

I have noticed some fading when I use cheaper detergent and there seem to be more skin irratants in it. Plus look at the amount of loads that does, not just the size since some of them aren't as concentrated.
