I was transporting my corn snake in a car, a VW polo 2006. I left him in the car to go to class, and checked on him before I left. When I came back 2 hrs later he was gone. The lid of the tank was slightly open, however he is strong enough to push the entire lid off and sometimes does, but has never actually left the tank. I cannot find him anywhere under the seats etc. Any idea where he could be?? is it possible he could be behind the dash board? Is it possible he could have escaped from the car?? I left several mice sitting around the car in the hope he would come out but he hasn't. Can anyone help?? He's about 3 feet long as still quite slender, his thickest part is no more than an inch wide.

Brock, We lost ours three times.. Once it was in an acoustic guitar(climbed inside) Another time, it was in the kitchen at 3am.. didn't see it for a couple months. And another time it was in my sons closet.. the snake(corn snake) is now around 5' and 8 years old.. Never lose it anymore. Putting the mice in the car is smart.. just make sure it's not too hot in the car.. Purchase some sticky paper for catching rodents and put that in your car.. Not sure if the snake crawled out the front end of your car.. Are there openings where the snake can crawl out the front end? Good luck.. ps. .My wife and kids named this snake Houdini. They have a total of 8 snakes.. From Corn to Kings to Milk snakes.

I hope your car is off. Check all the warmest and smallest places. You might want to check under the hood as well. One thing I know about corn snakes it that they're master escape artists! If I were you, I'd just keep looking all over the car, every little place you can think of.
Were any windows open while you left him?

They can slip through the smallest openings. He could very well be under the dash or even in the trunk. You'll have to carefully take the seats out in order to look up underneath them. You may need a mechanic to help you remove things to find him. If there are no openings to the outside, he should still be in the car. If the windows were cracked open he could have gotten out for sure. Was it not too hot in the car to leave him in there??

Snakes are very strong and agile.
He probable found an opening to the outside and squeezed threw it. I am amazed at how small of a hole Spencer can get himself threw when he wants too.

I can help you here.He might have crawled through the vents and into the dashboard. But however if there were windows down im afraid he might have escaped.Try the trunk.Under the carpet of the trunk where the spare tire is.

he probably is gone cause snakes smell with their nose and tongue so they have a good smell,he could have ran away or if hes not so hungry he may be doing camouflage but if only 1 windowwas 2 cm open he could run away

welcome to my club. i lost my 2 feet ball python inside my car last week. i send my car to workshop, striped everything inside my car, all four seats, side door panels, carpet that attached to the floor, but i still cant find it. the workshop didnt manage to open up my dashboard coz the ecu & wiring is rather complicated. i gave up hope, and moved on, perhaps you should too.
