I am completely upset with the waiver deal!

I dropped a player by accident & I tried to pick him back up, but couldn't.

I stayed up after 3 a.m. (est) last night to pick him up when he cleared the waiver list... only to have Yahoo not update!

I fell asleep for about an hour & when I woke, I checked right away & wouldn't you know, the player was picked up by another team!
It says he was picked up from waivers! Why then it won't it tell me that he was already claimed. So, way to go YAHOO! Thanks for making me loose sleep FOR NOTHING!!

UGH!! So frustrated!
I, then, went to pick up another player that didn't say he was on waiver... but when I went to add, it said he is on the waiver list... I guess I have a "claim" on this player... but I won't know until tomorrow.

So, please explain to me how the waiver thing actually works? I am confused!

(I thought I had 1st dibs on a player I dropped, then it went by waiver ranking. But that's not what happened!)
Please help this rookie!!!

Yes, I read the Yahoo help page about waivers! But it's not at all how hubby explained it to me!

It tells me that I have NO claim to a player I drop until he's cleared waiver list! THAT'S NOT FAIR!!!

Well lets see here, first of all I am sorry you lost sleep!
Here is the rules straight from Yahoo. At the bottom of this I have added a link to this page in the rules..... please go there and click next after reading to the bottom there are about four pages to read on the rules of the WAIVER WIRE. If this does not explain everything properly then I would get in touch with Yahoo and talk to them about it!!! AND DONT ACCIDENTLY DROP ANYMORE PLAYERS !!!

All players dropped from a team's roster are immediately placed on waivers. During this waiver period -- two days in Public Leagues and anywhere from zero to seven days in Custom Leagues -- anyone in the league can place a claim on the player.

So, if a player in a Public League is dropped on a Wednesday afternoon, all managers can claim him until Friday at 11:59 pm PT. The player will then be assigned to his new team roughly 4-8 hours after the claim deadline.

To find the length of the waiver period in your league, check the League Settings page, which can be found via a link on your League Overview page.

If more than one manager claims the same player, the team that is highest on the Waiver Priority List is given the rights to the player. The priority list is initially set based on the reverse of the draft order. However, each time you add a waived player to your roster, you're pushed to the back of the list, so the team with the lowest waiver priority will always be the team that completed the last successful waiver claim. This "rolling" list stays in effect for the entire season.

Your current position on the waiver priority list will be displayed along with your league standings.

If nobody claims a player during the waiver period, he becomes a free agent. In a Custom League with no waiver period, all dropped players automatically become free agents.

If you place a player on waivers, you cannot reclaim that player until after the waiver period has expired. If, however, you decide that you don't want to waive the player, you can cancel the transaction -- provided it has not yet been processed -- by viewing it from your team page and clicking on "Cancel."

If you place a claim on more than one waived player at a time, each pending transaction will appear on your Team Page along with its current position in your waiver order. All new claims get appended to the end of the list, but you can alter this priority by viewing each pending claim and changing its priority in the box provided.

in case you have 1st waiver priority, then you certainly get who you attempt to %. up, and no person else can declare him. yet if you get that participant, your priority is going right down to twelve (or 10 in case you're in a 10 team league, 8 in case you're in a 8 team league, etc) the guy who had the 2d optimal waiver priority now strikes as much as 1st, and the third optimal strikes as much as 2d, etc.
