LOL!!! Oh well!!! Guess I will have to find a good looking alien chick, get married, move to her planet and become her slave. Who knows? I might find a few Mayans up there laughing at all the believers. :) :) :)

One would think that the Mayans would have been better off predicting and preventing their own extinction! One thing is for sure, no matter when the end of the wold is, the Mayans will be 12 years closer than Prince's prediction "2000 it is over, so party like it is 1999"! So Mayans 1; Prince zilch!

If you actually studied the Mayan calendar, you would know that it doesn't say the world will end.

The calendar itself ends on that date.

And the Mayans believed that this would be the end of the current "world cycle", not the world itself.
The end of a world cycle is supposed to be accompanied by an immense change in the world of some kind.
That change could be landing men on Mars, it could be discovering life on another world, it could be the discovery of some new form of energy, it could be the end of war on Earth.
It could be anything.

No, but I'm looking forward to some solar pyrotechnics and all the mystical goofs acting up like Y2K. The biggest thing I can think of is Yellowstone going kablooie or that volcanic island near Africa sending a tsunami towards the U.S. Move inland away from seacoasts and Yellowstone, and we should be safe. Oh, darn, I forgot about the killer asteroid spotted last week headed for Los Angeles!:)

Should I pack a lunch for the here after?

The calendar ends there, not the earth. I will get up the following morning, go to work because social security can't pay me enough to sustain a deceit living as a retiree. Have taxes taken out of my wages because I never pay enough taxes and life goes on. More than likely I will be pulled over by a state trooper because I will be driving 25 mph in a 65 mph zone, but life goes on. More than likely I will be paying $10 for a gallon of gasoline so I can go to work at Wal-Mart welcoming shoppers. Shoppers who will call me all sorts of obscene names, which I won't be able to hear anyway where my answer to their obscenities will be thank you. But life will go on.

So you think the ancient Mayans know more than us? Did they have airplanes and telescopes and computers and could they cure small pox? No. So I don't think I will rely on them telling me when the world will end. We know WAY more than they did. On December 22, 2012 you will see that all is still normal.

That's handy to know. Isn't it wonderful how ancient knowledge like everything being made of earth, air, fire and water, the Sun orbiting the Earth and the world being flat turns out to be reliable, accurate and better than any knowledge found out in the past 200 or so years.

Astronomy & Space comes under "Science & Mathematics" rather than Fraud & Superstition.

No man can answer that question.

God created the Earth and everything else and He alone will destroy it.Even Jesus Himself doesn't know.He told His disciples that and to believers today. It's in The Bible.
It's a very good idea to accept Him NOW while you still have you still have a chance.Once you die it's too late.Your body will decompose but your soul lives for eternity in heaven or hell. They are very real places indeed.
I pray that you listen to my encouraging words here.
DO NOT DELAY!!!

Why do you put faith in the Mayan calender rather than Nostradamus or any other such nut?

I certainly would not put any money on their tips if I were you.

Perhaps you could let us know whether that is before or after lunch?
