I plan on scatering the seeds and covering them with loose soil and hope they come up in the spring

Probably not depending on your temperate zone, the type of stock and little to no knowledge of grape propagation. If you want to grow grapes go to the Internet and type in propagation of grapes. You can locate your growing zone the type of grape and the care and feeding of grapes. Don't expect any crops for 2-3 years the mother plant must mature and go through at least two growing season for hardiness.

Contact your County Extension Agent in any regard he/she can direct you accordingly.
