I use to know a man who was 114 years old. He fought in World War I. His lungs had been damaged by mustard gas in WWI, and yet at 114 years old he was still smoking like a chimney! He was also sharp as a tack, and knew what was going on, even current events in politics. He was just hard of hearing. He also liked to hand tie fishing lures, even the very tiny ones the size of knats.
I knew another gentleman who was 107. Both of his legs had been amputated. He looked EXACTLY like Albert Einstein.
I've been friends with several people who are 96 years old.
The oldest person I currently know is 105. She lived in Hawaii when Pearl Harbor happened. She lived on the oposite side of the Island, from Pearl Harbor. Her neighbor came over yelling that they were being attacked. They all ran outside to see. They lived too far from the attacks to see, or hear it, so they didn't believe it was actually happening.
ALWAYS spend time talking to the elderly...you can learn some facinating things!

My Uncle C. WWII vet. Lives on second floor, has to take the stairs up and down. Jokes he'll get a wife and he'll have to pully her up when he gets to the top. I think he's 83 or 84. Love that old man.

My grandfather who is 87. He was a father young and so was my own father. I hadn't seen him for over thirty years but am in contact with him now. I am glad he has seen me as an adult and has also seen his great grandchildren.

My neighbour. She is 101 and still lives reasonably independently. She is great fun and I have learnt so much from her.
She loves her gin in the evening and still goes to bingo once a week.
