For dinner have a big pasta meal. It won't give you energy right away, but when you wake up the carbohydrates will start to kick in and you'll have more energy the day of your game than you normally would have had. I would also eat some fruit that morning or before your game. It helps also to give you a little energy.

P.S.- no energy drinks, they will just give you a buzz and then you'll crash during the game.

Def eat a meal of high protein and carbs. Before the game I usually have pasta and a protein shake....not together because a shake does not go well with pasta but during the day i eat these things

I agree with everyone else, eat carbs the night before. Then the day of eat light and healthy. Also, stay away from energy drinks... they will mess with your system when you're trying to play. I sent a football player to the ER by ambulance last night for heart arrthymias.

A big portion of pasta will help you. Pasta is a good source of low GI carbohydrate. It gets absorbed by your liver in the form of glycogen. When you need energy your body uses the glucose in your blood first and then it taps into the glycogen stored in your liver. That's why it's important to fill up your liver the night before.

I am in x country for my school, what my coach tells our team to eat would be some sort of pasta dish the day before. And if you are playing the game more in the afternoon. Eat oatmeal for breakfast.

Hope this helps. It has for me so far.

spaghetti with meat sauce- That is what my husband eats and he plays hockey. Also when they interview all the NHL players about what they eat, most of them say the same thing.
