How long does it take to put an altinator in a car? And if You try to start the car and the car makes a click, click, click sound it is the altinator that needs to be fixed?

That "click, click, click" sound simply means that the starter isn't getting enough electricity from the battery. The alternator (note spelling) provides the means with which the battery is charged. The problem may or may not be the alternator; more than likely, you just need a new battery.

In most cases a new alternator can be installed in less than twenty minutes; some vehicles may require slightly longer times due to belt routing issues and/or physical location of the alternator. In the easier cases, expect to pay between $ 25 and $ 45 for labor, plus parts (which may be as much as $ 100 - $ 175 for a new or rebuilt alternator - making the job total $ 125 - $220). A new battery, which will almost always be required will add between $ 80 and $ 150 to the bill. Good luck!

Click click click usually means battery is bad or connections are corroded. Get a jump start from a friend. Take your car to auto zone or some other parts chain. Don't shut the car off. Have a friend go with you so they can sit in the car while you go in. Ask an employee if they can test your charging system. You will then be sure of what is wrong with your car and They usually do this test for free.

.that sounds like a celinod problem ;as regards how long to change/repair/replace the altinator it depends on its accessibly.the sole function of this is to re charge the battery.,and it does not play a role in starting the car.a car breaker will save you money here and fit it.call him first,if he does not have one in stock en quire who can supply you a reconditioned one also ask about replacing your cellionid. good luck .first check if you need your fan belt tightened

my first question is going to be was the red alternator/battery light on the dash on? check first to make sure the battery terminals are not corroded if they are clean them and try to start the car. it could be that your alternator is bad therefor not putting out enough power to charge the battery which would cause the car not to start . or it could be that your battery is bad and is not charging. the clicking noise you here is there starter solenoid trying to activate. i suggest that you have the battery checked first to see if it is good ( if bad replace it) and if the battery is alright have the alternator checked to see if it is good ( if bad replace it) and if the battery and alternator are good then it is probably the starter. basically it is a process of elimination.

He needs to find a new shop like, 4 1/2 months ago. Why would he wait so long? No shop in the world is so busy that it would take them 5 months to look at and fix a car. NEVER.

Usually a click may be just bad contact between the battery and cables or the starter may not be functioning well. just a guess

This is a car repair answer.

It could be a low battery. Try a jump start first before you start replacing a bunch of parts that MAY not be faulty.
