Excellent point! I see it only slightly different.
I see it as less about lying to promote new agendas as it is lying to maintain the status quo or build upon an existing bad Idea.
This list of lies is non-partian
Lie that the military is more efficient than it really is to stave off real change
Lie that millions of seniors are choosing to eat dog food to pay for medicine
Lie about the state of homlessness and "the millions" of everyday American in the streets
Lie about the scores of children going to bed hungry in this country
Lie about the divorce rate
Lie about the bias in the mass media
Lie about corporate taxes
Lie about corporate profits
Lie about crime rates
See, These are indeed the lies as you say. The difference is that they dont aim to solve anything only to maintain the madness...

Suffering arises from attachment. Attachment to political agendas as supposed permanent values, distorts the fact that politics is a game of transience posing as permanence, whereas the cause-effects of lying are permanent until turned into medicine. The means to do that lie at least five life conditions above the causes.

Rupert Murdoch cares nothing about anything but making money. He knows he can sell a line of right wing BS here in the states, so he does. You would think, then, that maybe he was all about family values, right? But no, not really - check out his holdings in other parts of the world (or even here in the US, where Foz presents The Simpsons and Family Guy). In the UK, he make money selling pornography. You are naive if you think he cares about any politics. He cares only for what he can sell.

I think its really a case of people getting carried away in the realm of ideas. I think if you honestly sit down with most people, you will find they are somewhere in the middle (I can't speak for all the Yahoo Answers posters though). Some people get so caught up that they 'embellish'. In other cases, people's egos get the best of them and they don't want to look like they might be wrong. It takes a really honest person - a person more interested in truth than being right - to be able to look at both sides of an issue.

Ego, greed and arrogance are almost always behind the need to lie, etc. The best way to live is to treat others as you wish to be treated, it is tried and true, and if one has the requisite backbone to live this way even in the face of difficulties, a better life will result. Live by the sword, die by the sword, you reap what you sow, what goes around comes around, etc. are all versions of this theory and appear to me to be the way things work. So those who lie, cheat, steal will eventually get their just rewards.

First you lie then you always cry. That is the law of the game or any make shift camp. Madam. Relax that you were not caught when you were on the track or you would have had the return trip without the flowers and pomp and show.
I thank you

They say the best questions to ask are not those that get answered, but the ones that help us to stop and ponder what we should be answering to.
Very Good Point.

It's necessary for those who's political philosophy has no positive aspect to articulate. It's also very effective, given the fleeting success of such organizations as MoveOn.Org and Media Matters. Their followers require no truth, facts, or honesty.
