Your mouse is fairly old & it is possible that he's lost some or all of his eyesight. Fortunately, mice & other nocturnal creatures don't rely on vision as much as smell & hearing.

I used Pine to start off when I first started into the rodent craze. It worked well, but it isn't the best when it comes to how often to change it and smell (although it doesn't smell as bad as Aspen, which is better than both Pine and Cedar, by the way!) Carefresh is great, but pretty pricey. You can find other paper beddings that are quite similar to Carefresh, but Carefresh is, perhaps, the best way to go. If you are getting mice, soft Aspen shavings, or paper bedding, are both good. Good luck! P.S. 100,000 mice?! Now that's a scary thought...

Just saying, 1 and a half is old for a mouse. They only live to about 2. So probably he could be losing his eyesight due to age.

mice can see as well have a good sense of smell. it may be possible your little mouse is going blind. try and get him to a vet to rule out anything more sinister. They are like us humans as we get older so our eyesight fades.

yes mice can see but they refer to their other senses more often than their use of sight, their whiskers are very sensitive and their use of smell is extremely important to them

they can, but not that well. and maybe when u try to hand-feed him, he's not hungry. mice and just about any other rodents don't eat all that much.
