Now that the dollar is equal, maybe we can be rescued by a REAL country?

Yes, if the Canadians wanted it and the US Congress approved it, it could become a state. This is what the citizens of Texas decided to do some years after they won their independence from Mexico. So there is a precedent for it in our history.

I'm sure they wouldn't want to. I love America but there is no reason their country would want to become just a state? That is why Canada doesn't want to become the 51st state of the United States. At least, that is one of the reasons, probably. Canada has its own government and they are a Neutral country when it comes to wars. I can't see any reason why they would want to join a country that enters into wars. Don't misunderstand me, I wouldn't go to any other country than the one I am a proud citizen of and that is our United States of America. I love our country and am very loyal and true to the United States.

Canada seems to have developed at a pace consistent with its citizens needs and desires taken into consideration but not to be a 51st state for the US the US has so many illegals it is a nightmare that Canada would want no part of so the only real 51st state for consideration would be Mexico, americans support the country anyhow with all the illegals working and sending home money, the drugs smuggled into the United States we may as well invade make them the 51st and start gettting taxes and resources

No chance. Canada compares favourably to the US in just about every way except for climate. Canadians know this, with the exception of some reactionaries who admire US conservatism. Or some ignoramuses who don't know a thing about politics or way of life. Are you one of those? You should head South, the rest of us have no intention of joining the USA.

The Canadians aren't insane.
Which one is the real country that you speak of?
Is it Canada or the United States?
Your post is not clear...at least not to me.
Anyway...exchange rates rise and exchange rates fall.
Not a big deal.
Canadians are having good time shopping in the U.S....
And the U.S stores and malls are happy to have them.
Whats the big deal?
Is this what people are expected to trade loyalties for....$$$$?
so it seems.

G'day Margaret S ,

Thank you for your question.

I think it would be a very slim one. If Canada wanted to become part of the United States, it would have by now. Canadians like having their own country. In particular, I doubt that Quebec would want to join.

Further, if Canada did decide to join, its ten provinces would become states, and deals would be done on its three territories. Why have two Senators when you could have 20?

Regards

No far from it to ever happen, why would the whole of Canada want to lose power to be one state in a union of 51. The laws that would need to be rewritten in one of the other countries would also be difficult and the merging of government structures would be impossible.

Canada is a nation, nearly as big as the United states. It has states of its' own. It would be foolish for an entire nation like Canada to become a state.

A REAL country? If it wasn't for the US, Canada wouldn't be a country. They can't defend themselves, they know we'll protect them. That's why Russia didn't take them over years ago.

There is a chance they could join the union. The western proviinces need to succeed from Canada, and ask us to make them states. I think British Columbia could be first. Then the rest of them would follow.

Except for Quebec. We'd dump our toxis waste there. If they don't like it, we'll send the trucks in with a military escort.

Each province would be a new state.
