What flea ointment, what's the brand? No type of treatment meant for a dog should EVER be used on a cat, this is a likely way to kill a cat, I've seen it done many times.

There are many, many different types of flea treatment for dogs and cats. In general, stay well away from anything that can be bought off the shelf, in stores. These sorts of products are often harmful and usually don't work. If you apply a store-bought product intended for dogs to a cat, you're very likely to end up with a dead cat, I've seen it happen.

Proper flea treatments can be obtained from vets - Frontline, Revolution, Advantage and Advocate are all good. These are spot-on type treatments that you get on the skin of the animal (not the fur) and they kill all fleas within 24 hours and keep them away for about a month. These veterinary products are also very safe for use.

I don't think its harmful but it's probably not a good idea to put dog products on a cat. Especially a kitten! To be on the safe side I wouldn't do it.

yes they are...you should get the appropriate one. Kittens have an age requirement too as what type of product you can use. best to use a flea shampoo first.
