If you live overthere, is it easier to join the militias to fight our forces, or scheme up a plan and put it into effect whole travelling across the world to accomplish it?
It makes perfect sense to me to keep the fight overthere. It makes perfect sense, for our strategic interests, to occupy Iraq also.
Support the troops. Support your country.

For a number of reasons:
* They already know that terrorists have crossed the border from Mexico into the U.S. More than one has been caught, how many weren't caught? The Patriot Act cannot serve to always catch those who are practiced at staying under the radar.
* They probably remember that Al Queda takes an average of 5-7 years to plan its large scale attacks. They've never gone for smaller acts of terrorism on our soil. For us, the "Great Satan" it's the large "ka-boom."
* They probably remember that there was 8 years between the WTC bombing and 9/11 - just more evidence for the point I made above.
* They use common sense. The theory just makes no sense at all. They can and do travel, they've been setting up cells all over the world, in Europe, and everywhere inbetween. They clearly do not limit their activities to where we fight in Iraq.
* They recognize it as just another talking point used by this Adminstration to back up "staying the course."
On a side note, I don't think we waste our time fighting terrorism in the Middle East. But I think it's ridiculous to say they won't come here while we do.

I believe that the reason is that they think it cannot happen here. To many Americans, 9/11 was a fluke, not a way of life, and they think that our response has been way out of line.
If it had been an isolated event then perhaps there would be some rational behind that manner of thinking.
The fact is that we have been under attack by terrorists of the mid-east for the last 20 years, and to pretend this isn't so is to be as blind as the world was to Hitlers invasions of neighboring countries.
From the attack on the Achile Laurell through the Embassy bombings, the hijacked airliners, the 1993 bombing of the WTC up to 9/11. The attacks have been unrelenting.
They have only abated somewhat since we have been in Iraq.
I would say that so far, we have had some success with this policy of "taking the war to them".
As to what makes us think that they want terrorists in their country, I think most of them don't, but if my children were doing something destructive, I would believe it was my responsibility to stop them, and if I couldn't, I would ask for help, which is precisely what we are doing there. We are helping them contain the unruly members of their society, so that the society can survive.

Because it's a truly uninformed (I'm being kind here) thing to say!
"Terrorists" are not a huge and visible army that can be "defeated" like a traditional enemy. They are small groups of disgruntled (and "crazy") people. There are many, many potential terrorists in this country already--and they come in all shapes, sizes, backgrounds, religions, ethnicities, etc. You would NOT be able to determine who is a terrorist just by speaking to him/her. The present administration has done its best to terrify the citizens of the US--and only the most radical of critics would call our own government "terrorist". But, that is exactly what it is!! Terrorists create fear--terror--among populations, usually with violence. Well, that's been done here--over and over. (Unibomber, church burnings, KKK, abortion clinic bombings, Federal building bombings, Waco, etc. etc.) To continually tell us that Muslims want to "wipe us out" is a terror tactic. (I know that the Feds don't say, "All Muslims...." are involved, but you will clearly see that message if you read between the lines! Also, there is very, very little media coverage of the "average" American Muslim--showing him/her to be a peaceful, lawabiding citizen.)
If someone even tried to unify the various "terrorist" factions in the world, he would end up with a "civil war" among them--as they all disagree on methods, and ideology; they'd end up wiping themselves out. Unless, of course, they are focused on a "common enemy". The machinations of our current administration have given many of these diverse groups an "entity" to fight---the US! (Still, you could never get enough of them here--via camel flotilla?--to even give one platoon of Marines a "go for".)

What makes you think the Iraqi people want the terrorists in their country?
Why can't "there" have been the mountains of Afghanistan, which BTW, would mean that Al Qaeda would have to be fighting defensively?

Simple--it is a mindless political slogan that serves only as propaganda for Bush's agenda.
Want PROOF?
>1 that slogan was invented and used exclusive in reference to the Iraq war
>Iraq did not attack the US, nor were they linked with the people who did
>we are NOT fighting the people who did attack us. They are sitting safe and sound in Pakistan--protected by Bush's good friend, the Pakistani dictator.
But--in spite of these facts, the Bushbots continue to chant "if we don't fight them there. . . "
Just WHO exactly is "them?" Its not al-Qaida-that's obvious. But they are the real enemy--so why aren't we fighting al-Qaida over there?

Good Question, long answer. First its political, The Democrats want our troops out, because they think its politically correct. Now the bigger problem. President Bush told us after 9/11 that we need to be in this for the long haul, at that time American's agreed. Americans are not up for anything "in the long haul" they want it now and if they don't get it now, then lets forget it. One thing we can all take to the bank. If we pull out, they WILL be back here and probably hit us much harder than they did before. Muslims want Americans and especially Christians DEAD.

Because fighting them over there in now way prevents them from trying to attack us over here. Think about it, if you want to attack the US do you have to go through Iraq or Afghanistan? NO! There is no reason why you can't go straight to the US and try an attack!
Hmmm, if the patriot act takes care of any terrorists that are here, then why do our soldiers need to die over there?
Your lack of logic is amazing.

Maybe because we remember being fed the same line that we had to fight the Koreans, VietNamese, Communists, etc, etc, over there so we wouldn't have to fight them over here.
Maybe some of us remember that this has always turned out to be a line of baloney after the fact and that we won't believe it ever again.

Because they are ignorant of tactics. If we had a full scale war going on here at home, liberals would whine about us not stopping the terrorists overseas first.
Kill all terrorists, here or there...doesn't matter.
