I got to say at first I was against the pullout and then started to think it was a good idea. But now it looks like progress is happening. Both the political Iraq and insurgences.

While Bush said going in this would take a long time I think most of us thought probably three or four years and then setup a base and leave. The experts at the time told us no lasting effects were ever accomplished without occupation of at least 5 years and usually 10 years.

We are spoilt Americans and want Rome built in a day. I now think we are so close, it would incredibly stupid to withdraw now and create a situation that magnitudes more may die in the future if we have to go back in or get attacked from terrorists. Just imagine 9/11 took about as many lives as we lost in the war and it was considered a relatively simple attack. If we could get the Middle East stabilized to monitor terrorists on a daily basis, over there, instead of here, I think we'd be a lot safer.

I mean the thing is so monumental it's even possible that lasting peace could happen in the Middle East, but now we are like robots that has decided this war from months ago... we either are mindlessly repeating to get out or to stay. I think we all should reevaluate this war from time to time. And right now, for me, I think we should give it more a chance.

Please stop this nonsense of no exit strategy. We knew from the start we were going to exit when Iraq could defend themselves. Nothing has changed. Exit strategy is the anti-war term for Cut & Run strategy.

IOW, how do you run from a war the best way instead of the way we did in Vietnam.

Bush will never have that exit strategy... it's a losers way and not something Bush would ever plan for, or in my opinion, no President should ever plan for. "Retreats" are for battles, not wars.

Why is everyone so eaten up with political propaganda instead of looking at things the way they are and deciding what is best for America instead of their favorite Party.

I think just by chance our political system has worked well for Iraq. While it is stupid to tell the terrorist when we are leaving, it is also very smart to have these debates as they are more confused than we are when we are leaving.

Can you imagine the number of times the terrorist leaders are saying... "OK, hunker down for another month and the Americans will leave and we'll take over." Then the next month they get the next memo to wait another month.

Eventually the terrorists are looking at each other thinking, "Who's running this terrorism campaign? We hunker down, get shot, then we mount a major offensive, and the Americans send in more troops... all the time talking about how is the best way to leave. How many more terrorists are going to have to die before America pulls out!!!"

It took America 200+ years for leaders in Congress to hit an 11% approval rating and THOSE very same people, led by a rash of democrats still wearing the same diaper from nine months ago...

To judge, demand and prod the new leaders in Iraq to step up to the plate and do their job better.

lmao

"But now it looks like progress is happening."

Where have I seen this before?

Better yet, WHEN have I seen this before?

Oh yeah, that's right. Last year, and the year before that, and the year before that, and they year before that.
