It is an attempt to treat people as categories rather than individuals. It is discrimination in favor of those who are assumed to have ancestors who were discriminated against in the past. It's a liberal's way to say "I'm sorry," but it doesn't work. All it does is sound condescending: see, you couldn't get into this school or get this job if we didn't make it extra easy for you.
That's BS. If you want to help those who have had a tough break, or their parents and grandparents did, so that they don't have the money to inherit that other people do, create a scholarship program and offer it on the basis of who needs it most, not by skin color.
Granted, there are disparities between the average black and the average white and the average Asian. But who wants to think of themselves as "average"?

it is a law set up the help counteract the fact that racism actually exists, contrary to what a racist will tell you. It basically means that if a company hires only white, blonde, blue eyed men as workers there just might be racism going on there. It helps to guarantee at least one of those 1000 workers is a minority or woman.

When a black person gets somthing for beign black.
Like a job or enterence to college.
Can also work in reverse. Asians get denied college all the time because the quota is reached.
