Every baby developes at their own pace. For example my son didn't crawl till 10 + months and walked at 13 months.
My daughter on the other hand crawled at 4 and half months and walked unassisted a little before 7 months.
The averages given by development charts are just that....averages and will never apply to every baby.

Don't worry. He will move when he is ready. Some do crawl around 6 months, but It could take a lot longer. Some don't even crawl, they just start walking. As long as he is walking at about 16 months I wouldn't worry. Each child develops in his or her own way. Talk to your pediatrician if you have any question. Good luck and enjoy your son.

It is okay, sometimes children simply take their time. Your baby is fine and in due time will be crawling and when it happens you will find youself willing them to walk and then when that happens you will be wishing they were not walking or crawling, LOL. It is all apart of the joys of having a baby. Do not look at other babies and compare yours to them, it is just like how some babies decide to come before their time. Enjoy your baby and relax. PS when they do start crawling look out because your days of holding them all the time is coming to an end.

Good luck and enjoy your baby.

not necesarryly. Few babies are crawling at 6 months, but the norm is around 9 months. Don't freak out if they aren't crawling by 9 months, all children are different.

Crawling is NOT a developmental milestone not all children do it and it is not important what method they find for getting across the floor: crawling, army crawl, bum shuffle, rolling, etc.

6 months is very early for crawling in any case.

Rolling over, sitting without support, cruising (walking along furniture), and walking independently are important developmental milestones. Crawling isn't.

Crawling isn't even mentioned in my favorite pediatric development textbook!

This seems strange since, of any of these behaviors, crawling is most associated with babies. The truth is many babies never crawl! They do need to find some way to move across the floor. Each will do so at unpredictable times and in distinctive ways. Your grandson may be a scooter, one who likes to stay upright and scoot across the floor on his bottom. Many babies prefer creeping, or wriggling forward on the stomach. Many children will crab-crawl, moving backwards. And, of course, many children will get up on all fours and crawl forward in the traditional way. Each child is unique.

Some adults are concerned that children who don't crawl in the traditional way will be less coordinated. This is a myth. As long as the baby begins to move across the floor using each arm and each leg, there is no cause for concern.

I'm reluctant to mention time frames, but somewhere between six and ten months I expect babies to discover some way to move horizontally across the floor to get desired objects. Obstacles to this include the child's not spending enough time on the floor, using an infant walker (which often eliminates the desire to learn crawling behaviors -- infant walkers are bad for proper development), having toys brought to the infant, pushing the child to learn to crawl, and physical problems such as muscle weakness. If babies actually crawl, it usually begins at around 8 to 10 months.

Every baby is different, but I don't think that you should be worried if your baby isn't crawling yet. My son didn't crawl until he was 9 months old.
Good Luck!

No you should not be worried. The average age for a baby to crawl is 8-9 months. You have nothing to worry about. Your baby is doing just fine. and enjoy this time

Every child is different and will do things at different times than other kids their age. My son had a case of lazyness and did not crawl until he was 11 months old and when his cousin was at that age he was already walking. Do not worry about it your son may skip crawling all together and jsut start walking just give him time. just be patient

Goodness, no! The average age for babies to crawl is 9-11 months.

First you'll see him get up on his hands, and then his hands an knees, and then he'll figure it out from there. Don't forget he has to train every single little muscle to work. Just him lots of opportunity to be on the floor and his instincts will take it from there.

He is completely normal. As you have already read , this usually doe not happen until 8-10 months, if ever. No worries! Just take this time to enjoy your son. They grow up so fast that you will one day soon be praying for these days to return. Soon he will be so busy that just getting him still for goodnight kisses will be a chore. And just wait until he learns that he can slither out of the bubble bath and get Mommy's bed and carpents all wet! Enjoy those times, too. Hope this helped a bit.
