It would be someone who has dedicated their lives to some important cause in America, and sometimes sacrificed themselves to it. Martin Luther King would be a prime example.
Patriotism means caring more about your country than you do about yourself or personal gain.
Real patriots are very rare.
Some soldiers are patriots, but not all soldiers. Patriots don't always represent causes that are appreciated in their own times... in fact the true test of a patriot would be someone who defends a currently unpopular position.

Well of course you have to google it! But i think it's someone who is an american citizen dedicated to their country. Ya know someone who is "patriotic" You probably have to elaborate on what it is to be "dedicated to your country." Like what are the traits of an American patriot, how do they view our country and what do they believe in? You should probably incorporate those sort of questions into your essay.

Someone who is passionate about Americans and America. I couldn't name anyone better suited to the title than John Philip Sousa, the March King. He's got a terrific web page and his music is over the top!
