Giggle, love this question...:) hmmmm....I think it means we are supposed to play "third dimensional reality" until Dad (God) finds something better for us to do....maybe then it will be time to come in and have dinner....:) However, children do walk around in Dad's (or Mom's) shoes from time to time, don't they?

Like any good parent, they want to be a good example for their children, so that their children turn out to be good people and so on and so forth. Wanting to play God would mean alot of responsibility and it comes with consequence's for those that choose that path. Children as suppose to play be happy, carefree and obedient to there elders. This will make them good in the eyes of God. As they grow and become parents they will earn that responsiblity.

Yes, as much as we really want to. God will let us do whatever we want. He loves us and wants us to have whatever we want. He has to stay out of it because that is what we wanted somewhere along the line through countless rebirths. Even as humans we are infinitesimal in comparison to God. Therefore, it is difficult for us to understand God and it is difficult to understand our true eternal self. But, God is prepared to help us with that if we can prove to Him our sincerity to understand.

So, Yes, this material existence is like a playground for us conditioned souls. We can try to play God, but the scientific fact is we can never be "God". There will always be only one God. God may have countless expansions and incarnation, but they are all emanating from the one Supreme Being just as we infinitesimal souls are.

The facility of this material existence is "supposed" to grant us some facility to believe that we can be some kind of god in some kind of way. But, the real truth is that as human beings we are to learn what is our true eternal self and our true eternal business.

Where exactly did your conclusion came from? Were you always playing God or your mother/father when you were a child? Children apart from enjoying playing are also innocent, faithful, imaginative, protected and immensely fond of their parents. You should give more consideration to these characteristics than their playfulness when you refer to us being God's children.

You can play God if you can do it as well. No more anger, violence, retaliation, cussing, sexual immorality, theft, lies, etc. I for one, don't want to try because I can't succeed.
