Nope. I get into that situation with my hubby's family quite often as many of them speak Spanish. I've actually gotten pretty good about following the conversation though and most people think I speak Spanish, but I really "fake it" at best.

Also at the nail shop I go to the people who work there are (and speak) Vietnamese to one another (though I also speak to them in English). I can think of several other examples, but anyway it's all good.

Plus at my church we have a group of Filipinos, Brazilians, Chinese, Angolans, and some other groups, all who have their own languages, but we all get along very well.

False. I work with a lot of Spanish-speaking people, and although I'm not fluent, I can pick up on some of what they say. Foreign languages don't bother me. I think if you date or marry someone whose family speaks another language, it's just more of an incentive to learn the language.

My husband is Mexican and they speak Spanish to each other, sometimes the use both Spanish and English together. He tells me what they are saying and he teaches me the language, I'm from the south so we speak slow here and when they talk they speak fast and I get anxiety. They all respect the fact that I can't keep up and try to keep english only when I'm around, but when they use both I can figure out what they are saying, I'm not uncomfortable with it at all, it is there first language and they speak english as well as I do.

False

Thats fine, if I date or marry someone then I know what I'm getting into.

If I happen to be in a dark alley surrounded by people who are all speaking a language I do not know and they are confronting me in that language, that on the other hand is a problem.

relies upon on the context, somewhat. sometimes i'm getting that vibe the place they are speaking nasty. If it would not sense that way, no. yet sure, i've got been prevalent to get uncomfortable. somewhat around some Mexican adult men that dangle out on the close by mall at a similar time as the youth dangle out everywhere... i replaced right into a teenager as quickly as and definitely one of them had an worker come over to question me out... stated no... then all of them started speaking spanish and giving me grimy seems. o_O

my ex husband is Mexican. when we got married i did not speak any Spanish. I got tired not understanding the language so i study for 9 months. i learned the name of things, then learned how to put them in to sentences. now i don't know every word but enough that people can understand me and i can understand them.
my new husband is from Ecuador. so when we r around my ex we cant speak Spanish. I am glad i can speak another language.

Not really... I don't feel too bad about that. I work with a lot of people who speak another language, and they're teaching it to me (that and I'm picking it up), so I can sort of get in on what they're saying... mwahahaha

I remember when I dated a puerto rican girl, and I caught on to the language while we were together so I'd have to say F or False

True...at first...but then I would learn to speak the language.
....maybe secretly (lol) and "listen" pretending not to know how for a while...It would be one sure way to find out where you stand with everyone.
