...although there a a good number of movies that virtually match the premise description, which you speak of, I'm going to take a blind and wild stab, shooting right from the hip, and say that you're talking about the gory 1988 cult horror shocker, "Night of the Demons"...

It could be the original Evil Dead, but yeah that plot could really be like fifty or so movies.
