Yes, they should be forced to study Russian history--and ALL history, for that matter!!! (But they have already learned the llesson of "name calling")
I usually write off the people who say things like "socialist" and "Communist" in reference to Democrats---they do not have the brains to cast aspertions subtly, and without name calling. They are too dense to deal with.
The really scary conservatives are the ones who don't yell, act like Rush or Coulter (clowns, in other words,) or throw around words they do not understand. The "scary" ones are those who appear to be level-headed and open-minded, who can color their observations in such a way as to look fair-handed, but in actuality are "sticking it to" Liberalism. Of course, they are the only ones who are fun to debate!

Thank you for your straw man. If you know so much about Russia how much do you know about their front groups in America? Nice little tactic to divert attention from the Marxist tomes coming from the Democrat party. Hillary changes a word here and there but since the most influential people in her years of learning were communists ie Saul Alinsky it is clear you need the education more.

Actually it is the republicans and their supporters who are the Socialists...national Socialists...Sean Hannity and Let Freedom Ring...They are a group that split off from George Lincoln Rockwell's National Socialists in the 60's because they felt the National Socialist White Peoples Party (AKA Nazis) were too liberal.

First of all, a familiar quote, if you wrestle with a skunk you are both going to end up smelling like a skunk, seems to ring true.
Which came first the chicken or the egg, Who engaged in the name calling first, Democrats or republicans? Politicians generally try to say only things that will get them elected. So if Americans dont like name calling, dont be influenced by it, Vote on other qualities.
As for how socialism or communism relates to american politics, Democrats aka liberals tend to say, "Let us help you"
similar to how the socialists and communists said, "Let us help you, the oppressed masses, we know what is best for you, we will equitably redistribute the wealth". Republicans, tend to say, "Help yourself, we will try to keep the government out of your way"
And from yet another, more cynical perspective, if you want to blame the problem on lack of education of america, then just blame it on the democrats. Since the vast majority of Teachers tend to be liberal democrats and control the tone and essence of education, if we are all too stupid to know and understand the our history and the failures of other forms of government --- Ergo the failure of education rest firmly in the camp of an overwhelming majority of teachers who identify themselves as liberals and/or democrats.
And, yes, I am an independent that tends to vote republican.

The Soviet Union stopped being Communist when Krushev took over. So unless your associates lived some part of there adult life in the Lenin-Stalin period, they have no idea what Communism is.
And Democrats just vote based on what lobbyist pays the most.

I have studied the history of communist Russia. Extensively. And I've read biographical accounts from people imprisoned and tortured for many years in Russia simply for being a Christian...
The difference between the Secular Progressive Liberals and the communist mentality is very slim.
And I have never accused you of being one of them. But perhaps old-line Democrats need to wake up and look at what is on their left.

I've barfed up questions better than that. I shouldn't be made to study German because I'm from Great Britain, should I?? That seems to be where your a-r-gument is going(!) But I suppose its (fractionally) a better starting-point than the "go back to Russia" crap that is fired at socialists like some shape of a crossbow.

Ummmm I think thats the point they're trying to make.
That socialism is bad and ultimately leads to over centralization.
Im sure they know russian, communist history.
Saying someone is a socialist does not automatically connect to Russia... They dont own the term.

MANDATORY study.
The whole smear is a political tool. If anything, the Republicans tend to support politicians who's intrusionism is similar to the old Soviet Union.
The trick is called "projectioning".
Very conservative attribute. as in...
"Acuse others of what you do"-Karl Marx.

>Should any Republican that utters words about how Democrats are socialists be forced to study Russia?
Only if democrats who talk about republicans being fascists are forced to study Hitler and nazi Germany. Then both republicans and democrats might actually get...wait for it...an EDUCATION, and we might see a few more libertarians around.
