If it's white vinegar, you smell something else. I use white vinegar allllllllllllllllllllllllll the time, I have 2 boys and a few dogs, birds...ahhh! White vinegar has a sweet smell when it's first used on carpet and wood, then it fades away completely. If you used cider vinegar (eew) you used the wrong kind, so go over the spot again with white. Then really, really rinse.

White venegar does work well on cat pee, you just really have to soak it and rinse, soak it and rinse.

You could rinse it with water, but the odor will finally go away. Vinegar is a great odor neutralizer, especially for cat urine!=)
