I have a gallon of Simple Green and was wondering if it was good to wash cars? If it is how much should I use to dilute in the water? And also I recently polished my car but haven't waxed it and it has been raining a lot. Will the polish come off if I don't wax it?

Please do not use caustic cleaners on the painted finish of a car. Simple Green is good on the motor and under the fenders wheels and tires. Go out and buy a 1/2 gallon Mequires car wash wash the car in the shade out of the sun if possible. It will not remove wax or polish off of the paint. Use a wool wash mitt or something with lots of pile lots of suds is preferable and some one behind you to rinse. Start with a fully rinsed car then circular motions wash suds down the mid size car 1/4 at a time and rinse then start on the next 1/4 or 1/8 at a time Suburban or Van size. I use terry towels to dry. California water blade works so you only need one towel. Use your worst towel to dry the door jambs and rubber seals around doors and trunk.

I would really recommend not using Simple Green for washing your car. Simple Green is much more of a degreaser than anything else, I don't think your car is covered in grease. Now it might actually be good for cleaning the underbody of the car (while cold & I wouldnt recommend starting vehicle until its dry, so just don't use it, I think the label will have something about it & heat.)
As far as polishing your vehicle & waxing it afterwards, most polishes have wax in them I believe. You should read the container or product label that you used.

Simple green is a non abrasive cleaner and should not damage any paint job on a car.
