DOESNT MATTER, THEY PATH WE ARE ON CAN NOT GO ANYOTHER WAY THEN WHAT IT IS ON NOW ONLY BECAUSE IT WASNT TAKEN CARE OF CORRECTLY AT THE BEGINNING. ALWAYS HAVE HOPE FOR SOMETHING BIGGER THAN YOU.

That happened in the 1700 - 1800 time frame. The majority of the people convinced the government that persons of brown or black skin were property and took their rights away.

Isn't majority rule grand!

But wait (said Abraham Lincoln) we are a nation of LAWS not MOBS. and signed the Emancipation Proclamation.
(Other than White persons may now rejoice)

We are still a nation of laws. The president has not committed any crime (no don't believe everything you read. Don't you think Hillary would hav his head on a stick if he REALLY did something wrong?)

Also, the statistic you quote (or attempt to) doesn't say a majority of Americans want to pull OUT of Iraq. It says they disagree with the direction.

Get over it. The same was true in both World Wars. The difference is that it is now fashionable to interfere with what you do not understand.

Opposing the war is OK. Political manipulation of Congress while we have an Army in the field is treasonous. No soldier should have to die just because Shrillary wants to be president.

We have to have a balance between pure democracy, in which everybody could vote on everything, and authoritarianism in which the leader makes all the decisions. Pure democracy is too cumbersome; there is no way that a working person can spend the time or get all the knowledge needed to run the country. So, we vote on people whose judgment we think we can trust. That doesn't mean we will always agree with them, of course.
And even presidents have sometimes been known to misjudge things.

Damn those hanging chads in Florida or this could have been an entirely different day in the US. Sorry, but that's the first thought that came into my head when I read your question which is a very good question by the way.

When I'm President I'll put some issues up for national referendum. I'm thinking of getting into a different line of work anyway!

Its the people who decide who will run their country in all democratic countries. You get what you vote for which is the reason why the people of Burma are protesting as they can't vote. Did you vote at the last election. ? If not you can't complain.
