Wilma Rudolph was a gracious, kind person, who overcame prejudice in her daily life, and represented the country and her race, without ever showing any bitterness.

She ran before steroids were commonly used by athletes, but I would like to think she would not do anything illegal or unethical which might bring disgrace on her family or herself.

Do you remember the days when hockey players, baseball players, football players and athletes played for the love of sport and for the honour of representing their country internationally etc, etc, etc. Now they are all in for money, fame and prestige, and because of that the steroids, the drug use, and the mightier than thou attitudes have come into full play. I miss the Guy Lafleurs' and Hank Aarons' and Terry Bradshaws' and Carl Lewis' and Greg Loughanis' and the Nadia Comencis'.
