Since Madison is the name that keeps coming to you, you should go with it. If you can't come up with a middle name, then maybe ask mom's input on a Biblical middle name. Like Madison Elizabeth. That's pretty.
I was rather in a simular boat: The name Maggie kept coming up but I felt like I should be using a Biblical name. Finally, I decided Maggie must be the one so our baby (due just about anytime now) is Maggie. When I finally decided, I ordered a diaper bag with her name embroidered on it so it was written in stone or cloth anyway . Good Luck!

Madison is painfully popular these days.
The Bible is a great baby naming tool, but it is by no means the only one. Would you be interested in choosing a "hero" name? Marley - for Bob Marley - has a similar sound and feel to Madison, but isn't nearly as popular.
Marley Katharine, Marley Elizabeth, Marley Grace ... all sound fresh and modern, but meet your criteria for a name that can carry a child through her lifetime.

If Madison is what you're thinking, that could be your answer. If you want to please your Mom, do a biblical name for the middle name. (that's what my mom did i.e. Joyce Anne)
BUT, be sure to write down full name including last name and say it out loud a few times, and be aware of what the initials might spell. You probably would not want M.A.W. or M.O.W.
I have known a Henrietta Roach (she couldn't wait to get married) and I dated a Steve with the initials of S.O.B.
Pays to be careful

I think you should go with Madison (since it's your gut instinct) and maybe she could be:
Madison Brooke
Madison Renee
Madison Alyssa
Congratulations, and don't let anyone pressure you into naming YOUR baby what they want.. you're the one who will have to live with the name LONG after they're gone :)
