I am thinking about moving to an inexpensive Latin American city and practicing free love with all the attractive mamacitas, wearing protection of course. Should I do this? What city would be the best? I've been to the Dominican Republic and loved it there. Help me to decide.

No don't retire. Take a break instead or vacation a bit. The money you have will dwindle quick. Invest in stocks also since you are young.

Yeh if that is what you think will make you happy. It would help if you can speak Spanish or Portugese to have some thing to do after you have exhausted yourself.
a major problem with inexpensive latin american cities is that women outnumber men by a huge amount. This is because all the adventurous guys have left to go to bigger cities and left all the girls behind. The guys that have stayed behind have had such an easy time with girls that they only consider getting off with a foreign guy as being something of a challange. So you will have girls falling over themselves to sit at your table when you go out for a beer or a coffee and guys continually coming up to talk to you. You will not have any friends or work colleagues and unless you join a sports club and play a team sport you will never get any friends. I would give you two years to loose half of your money and half of your mind.
Go on holiday for a couple of weeks, sure! go on another holiday! you will get bored by this before very long. Waving dollar bills in front of peoples faces will get you rolled over on your second night out.

You can realistically earn a "safe" $25,000US annually from a "nut" of $750,000 without fear of ever running out of money.

$25,000 is enough TODAY to live a comfortable life in the Dominican Republic, but ten years from now will not be. Since you are only 31, you may live another 60 years or more, by which time you will just be a pauper, especially if you encounter any kind of illness or misfortune!

Why would you want to retire now? $750,000 isnt that much money if you end up living to a ripe old age of 90. You really need a minimum of $2 million to be comfortable in a nice life style for the next 60 years if you consider a 4% inflation factor each year. Take a year off and enjoy yourself (without increasing the world's population) and then do something productive. Your mind will stagnate unless you put it to use. Who wants to be a 50 year old who is now broke, living in a foreign country and cant remember to zip his pants!

This sounds like a really dumb idea to me. You are likley to live for at least another 40 years, do you really thing that you can do that on $750,000? Even in the DR that is going to be tough unless you can find some business opportunities there that can provide you with some backup.

Don't retire PERIOD. You may be in a position to concentrate more on what you WANT to do than on earning money. Actual retirement is the #1 cause of death. Human beings are not designed to retire.

NO, don't retire. You don't have anywhere near enough money to retire. $750K is not a lot of money. Keep working and try to invest your money wisely.

You have enough money to work, live comfortably, to invest most of your money and not to have to stress over money. A bit of traveling is good too.

Why don't you hook up with one of the women on here that's always asking how to get out of debt? That way you would both benefit! LOL
