Why don't you go to a community college? It's much less expensive than universities.

It's probably unlikely you can do just a jump in GPA unless you get straight A's. Just work hard.

Some colleges look at grades, and personal statement. Sometimes if you have a really good personal statement, it will increase the chance of getting in. Yes, those groups will help getting into certain majors, Political Science I take it.

You know, it's a good thing you realized that your GPA was low while still a sophmore. If try your hardest on your next two years then your GPA should go up. I don't think any college would be happy accepting a student with a GPA of 2.0. However, they don't just look at your low GPA, if they see that your grades improve over the next two years then they will most likely accept you. If I were you I'd get down and study real hard though. If you really want to go to college you should take your grades more seriously.

Volunteer work is a great thing to have. Community Colleges will accept you. Yes you can raise your GPA from 2.0 to 3.0 or higher if you get good grades. Colleges look at many aspects of you. Find out admission requirements for schools you want to go to.

It is still early enough to raise your GPA. There are ways to do it. You could ask your teacher for any kind of extra credit assignements, and it worked for me keeping a great GPA in one math class during my high school years. Another option is to ask the teacher for help in understanding the assignments and work. Third, work on improving your study habbits, there are books out there that can help you improve them. Finally, see about getting a tutor (there are free or low cost ones out there). Regarding college admission, you could get into a community college, but college is an even harder work load than high school. Good luck!

You need A's.

Schools like BC and BU require a much higher GPA than what you have.

Don't go for a 3.0, go for a 4.0. It's just a matter of effort and committment to study.

You can do it..IF..you put in the effort.

Yes it's real nifty to join a club, but a club like Academic Decathlon would serve you much better.

You are only a sophomore in the 6th week of school. You can bring up your grades, if you want to, and are willing to put in the effort.

Again, it all boils down to time and effort.

Unless you raise your GPA, your life is over.

You can forget University, and even community college will be difficult for serious programs because you'll bring with you the habits of a 2.0 GPA.

You're best recovery is to get straight As from now on and go to University. If that's not possible, you should improve as much as you can, then select a decent paying trade and start an apprenticeship. Maybe think about Plumber, Electrician, Welder, Machinist (Tool & Die Maker).
