Can anyone tell me the dangers of douching with just plain water? I bought the kind of douche that I could unscrew the top and put whatever I wanted in there. So I decided the only way to douche with out creating an infection would be to do it with no added chemicals, water! Besides, I only wanted to do it to cleanse the extra semen secretions that my boyfriend leaves in me(maybe too much info...) But honestly, I need to know if this is a good method, or a totally idiotic thing that I'm gonna end up paying for in the future.

How do I say this politely... bad idea!! all around. The semen or any other secretion runs out anyway. There's absolutely no point in douching. Two things. One, water is not "pure" unless it's distilled. Second, you're ruining the natural bacteria that fight infection which makes you more prone to getting them. Lastly, if you force water upward toward the cervix and the sperm is still alive (up to 2 days), you might achieve just the opposite of what you're trying to accomplish.
Try a condom or birth control and throw that douche in the garbage.

You shouldn't douche at all. Douching throws off the vagina's PH (even if it's just plain water!). Plus, it washes away the good bacteria and thus leaves you open to the bad bacteria that can cause infections.

The semen will come out eventually. You might want to consider using a condom so that you don't have leftover semen inside you.

You shouldn't need to clean out your vagina from semen if you use a condom, and since you are not married to this guy, you REALLY should be using a condom
