Step 1: Hire a lawyer. Otherwise, even if you do make it through the process of filing the complaint, you'll get eaten alive in the discovery process, etc., not to mention trial (if it gets that far). The corporation is guaranteed to be represented by at least one (probably a few) attorneys...an unrepresented plaintiff doesn't have a prayer. Keep in mind that, depending on what you want to sue for, many plaintiff's attorneys will accept a case with the expectation that you'll pay only if you win. You pay nothing up front, but you'll give up 1/4 to 1/3 of your judgment/settlement.

First, you need to come up with a "cause of action." If your suit is based upon a tort, punitive damages are often part of the court-ordered settlement. However, if your issue lies in contracts, there is not usually a provision for punitive damages
You're really going to need an attorney. No offense meant, but if you don't know how to file a suit, you're never going to be able to self-represent against muliple motions to dismiss, summary judgment, etc.

You should fundamentally get a lawyer, someone with experience and whom you can trust to represent you and your interests.
You might want to watch 2 or 3 movies related to the environment you'll be confronting, suing a major corporation is a dangerous thing and they will stop at nothing to prevent you from collecting the money.
So that is why you should hire a good attorney and even if you might have to give up a large chunk of the possible compensation, this is the only way to go... if you are alone, they will destroy you !!!
Movies you might want to see
Pelican Brief
The Firm
Erin Brokovitch
A Civil Case
Class Action ( very related to your question !!!) with gene hackman.
good luck
