I've never shopped for a new tennis racquet all on my own before and I'm not quite sure how to go about it. I've played tennis for a year now and I want a new one.

I know I want either a Prince or Wilson racquet but what should I look for in a tennis racquet?

Btw money is not a matter for me. So any prince will do as long as it's good.

Well, at tennis warehouse, you can buy rackets. To top it all off, they have a demo program. I believe they'll let you demo a racket for 1-2 weeks for a small price

Get out there and demo some racquets. You can demo from online stores like tennis warehouse and midwest sports, or you could go to a local pro-shop and demo some there. At your experience level, I would demo all kinds of racquets. Try some lighter ones, some heavier ones, oversize and midplus heads, headlight and head heavy... I would even suggest not limiting yourself to just those two brands.

The tennis racquet is always a matter of personal preference. You want to buy whatever feels best to you. I always suggest to people to get as heavy a racquet as they feel they can handle. As you improve, you would appreciate the extra weight. The lightweight racquets and head-heavy racquets can be brutal on your arms because they don't dampen vibrations very well. But if you buy too heavy a racquet, your shoulders won't be happy.

As I said, it all comes down to what you like the best. Don't listen to people when they say that a specific racquet is "good" or "bad". That just means that it either did or didn't work for them, and doesn't mean that it will or won't work for you. Good luck in your search!

There are many different types of Tennis Racquet on the market, but what should you be looking for when buying a new racquet. Racquet design tries reach a balance of playing characteristics for its target market, and every design has to make compromises to achieve this in:

1. Control vs. Power
2. Feel vs. Comfort
3. Light weight/maneuverability vs. Solid shot response and stability.

This is done by changing the size, shape, weight, balance, length, thickness and materials of the racquet.

There is more to a tennis racket than you think.
When buying a tennis racket, consider the following:
Length
Head size
Weight
Grip
Good luck on your choice and have fun shopping.

Wilson, Prince and Babolat are very fine. Perhaps your tennis teacher can provide you with some or give you a piece.
