well an interesting question. i dont know what do people mean when they say this but i think its an individual thought whats at the back of there minds. but i am sure of one thing that whats at the God's mind and that is he listens to only the word north and not south.

No, it is a prayer for the USA
When I read the words "God Bless America" I immediately thought of the song written by Irving Berlin and sung for years and years by the late Kate Smith.
To me, a non-American those words mean God Bless the United States (American patriotic song). It has nothing to do with Canada, Mexico or any country in South America. At times, the song was sung in the place of The Star-Spangled Banner.
It is often referred to as 'the unofficial national anthem of the United States'.
I'm editing this at the moment because I am watching the ball game (NYY and Cleveland) and wanted to add this piece of information. Right now some guy is singing 'God Bless America' (midway through the 7th inning) and the screen on the TV is showing the U.S. flag. BTW for all you interested people the score is 8-3 Yanks.

In my opinion...
This is like the winner of the game or award saying... "I want to thank God and Jesus for giving us this win..."
Does that mean God and Jesus were against the other team or people? Did they have a vested interest in who won the game? No...
We say it because in the late 40' through the 70's the United States saw Communism as a Godless venture. So, we added the word God to the pledge of allegiance, our money, and anything else we could to get the world to think we were the righteous ones in the fight between Democracy and Communism...

God has created, is running, and will destroy the Universe. God is the Origin and Destination of the Universe. Set your Desire level perfect or OK to be brave, no low to be coward, no high to be cruel. You have rights of Survival, Self Defence, and Freedom.
